Who We Are.

We are a community of bird lovers.

How we started.

Bluebirds of Central Kentucky was launched during a conversation over a beer at the West Sixth Farm in Frankfort, KY in June 2018. Chris Forsythe and Birch Bragg discussed ways to make the beer farm more attractive to native birds. They decided that the farm would benefit from a trail of nesting boxes for cavity nesters like the Eastern Bluebird, Carolina Chickadee, Tree Swallow, House Wren, Tufted Titmouse, and Carolina Wren.

Where we're going.

We are working toward a bright future for bluebirds. We have ambitious plans in the works, including:

  • Adding nest box cameras and a live feed to this site
  • Expanding our social media presence so that you can keep up with the trail activities
  • Broadening volunteer opportunities to assist in monitoring and maintaining our two existing trails
  • Adding new bluebird trails across central Kentucky

Our Leadership

Chris Forsythe

Chris Forsythe founded Bluebirds of Central Kentucky in 2018 to inspire, encourage, and educate others on the mutual benefits of cavity nesting habitat restoration. While earning his degree in biology, Chris banded bluebirds across Central Alabama as part of a multi-year population study.
